Eligibility
- Three full scholarships for students attending Folsom High School, Cordova High School, or Oak Ridge High School in California. Only US citizens may apply. Previous recipients are not eligible. (Kikkoman/Folsom HS, CA)
- Three full scholarships for high school students in Walworth County, Wisconsin. Students attending the following schools are eligible: Elkhorn, Badger, Big Foot, Divine Word, Williams Bay, Delavan-Darien, East Troy, Faith Christian, Walworth Christian, and Whitewater High Schools. Only US citizens may apply. Previous recipients are not eligible. (Kikkoman/Walworth Co, WI)
Age Requirements
Applicant's birth date must fall between
April 2, 1990, and April 1, 1993.
Application Fee

- Host Family Letter
- 5 Responses to Short Answer Essay Questions

Scholarship Covers:
- Round-trip international travel
- Round-trip domestic travel
- Placement with a carefully selected host family
- Regional orientation for scholarship recipients and parents
- Preparatory materials
- Three-day Japan specific orientation at the beginning of the program
- Support services in host country
Scholarship Recipients are Responsible for:
- Passport
- Visa fees (if necessary)
- Any excess luggage tariffs
- Required overseas medical insurance (many insurance policies will cover students while traveling abroad)
- Personal spending money
- Upon returning home, scholarship winners are expected to complete at least one presentation in their school or community to share their experiences, teach others about the culture in their host country, and encourage other students to participate in foreign exchange.
NOTE:
All applicants will be notified by mail of their status in April.

APPLICATION MATERIALS FOR YOUR REFERENCE.

name and code on your application. All scholarship recipients are required to
travel on the YFU group travel dates, and to complete the entire program. For
